Even at the international transport hub of Nuremberg, secure truck parking is in short supply. To improve the situation, the logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has designated a new parking area at its location in Nuremberg.
The branch has been collaborating since July with Bosch Secure Truck Parking, a Europe-wide online booking platform operated by Bosch. Any available truck parking spaces at motorway service stations and on business sites are listed there in real time and, for a charge, can be reserved by drivers and dispatchers via the Internet or an app, or leased for a specific period.
Initially, Gebrüder Weis makes available about ten truck parking spaces in Nuremberg on the Bosch booking portal. One particular benefit of the new parking is the high level of security. The whole site is secured and under video surveillance and the automatic barrier only opens when a camera recognises the number plate.
“As a logistics company, we are all too familiar with the stressful daily lives of truck drivers and the growing frequency of cargo theft. By offering these secure parking spaces, we are giving freight companies and truckers in the Nuremberg region real added value,” says Alexander Eberharter, Branch Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Nuremberg.
Gebrüder Weiss has been an official cooperation partner of the Bosch Secure Truck Parking platform since 2016. Nuremberg is now the third of the logistics company’s locations to be connected to the Bosch booking platform, following the Austrian locations in Vienna and Wels.
The commitment to more secure parking is part of the general security strategy at Gebrüder Weiss. In the light of a global rise in cargo theft, in recent years the logistics company has put in place high levels of security for its customers and partners in European land transport. Gebrüder Weiss recently won the Austrian HERMES Transport Logistics Award in the “Supply Chain Management” category for its special transport security concept.
