With Air Serbia, a new airline will be calling Western Austria this summer. Starting from August 2019, the airport of the Mozart city will be linked to the airport Niš Constantine the Great twice a week (Tuesday, Friday). This was announced by Salzburg Airport in a press release.
With around 280,000 inhabitants, Niš is the third largest city in Serbia and seat of the Orthodox bishop. In addition to universities, a symphony orchestra, museums, theaters and various cultural institutions Niš stands out above all with its perfect location between Pristina (300 km), Belgrade (230 km) and Novi Sad (300 km).
In addition to Salzburg, Air Serbia also connects Niš to Baden-Baden, Bologna, Budapest, Frankfurt-Hahn, Friedrichshafen, Gothenburg, Hanover, Ljubljana, Nuremberg, Rome and Tivat. In total, the Serbian airline serves ten airports in Germany as well as four in Italy and two in Austria.
Air Serbia – formerly JAT (Yugoslav Airlines) – is held by the Serbian state (51 per cent) and by Etihad Airways (49 per cent). The fleet currently includes 8 Airbus A319, 2 Airbus A320, 1 Airbus A330, 3 ATR 72-200, 3 ATR 72-500 and 4 Boeing 737-300s. Air Serbia operates passenger and freight services to a total of 40 destinations in Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and North America.
