Alfred Schuon GmbH has successfully launched a combined transport project.Since the beginning of May, the freight forwarder has not only implemented warehouse logistics and road transport for a customer from the automotive industry, but has also developed a new door-to-door concept. Schuon uses the train route between Stuttgart and Bremen for daily loads in each direction.
They organise both the main run on the rail and the forward run with own trucks and the after-run with the help of a cooperation partner. For the implementation of the project special equipment was purchased, which allows the direct rail loading.
In Bremen, a freight forwarding company cooperating with Schuon receives the semi-trailers and transports them to their final destination. Schuon also handles warehousing, order picking, packaging and road transport, thus covering the entire supply chain. At the container terminal only the semitrailer is loaded. Driver and tractor remain stay there, to then take on a new loading unit for storage in Haiterbach.
“The goal is for us to implement holistic logistics concepts even more frequently in the future,” says Alexander Schuon, Managing Director of Alfred Schuon GmbH. The logistics service provider has also acquired new intermodal megatrailers for transport by road and rail. Further investments are planned to promote the expansion of intermodal transport.
