Geis opens central hub for parcels and general cargo in Poland

The Geis Group is expanding its network in Central Europe. The international logistics provider has now started operating a new, centralised handling facility in Stryków near Lódz, Poland. The plant with around 10,000 m² of hall space as well as 120 loading and unloading gates accommodates the central hubs for general cargo and for parcel delivery in Poland. To date, Geis was using separate centers in Warsaw and Wola Rakowa.

Geis invested a total of around EUR 19 million in the new building. The hub has three separate areas and is therefore the main handling terminal for general cargo shipments, central parcel handling facility and depot for the Łódź region. The parcels are processed with two automatic sorting systems, with a capacity of 16,000 parcels per hour. The 120,000 m² plot also offers room for future expansion, according to a press release of the company.

“With the new central hub, we are now setting an important milestone for our further development in Poland,” explains Joachim Fink, Managing Director of Geis Holding. Thus, the logistics group is now represented in 47 locations in Poland.

Since it was established in 1948, the Geis Group, which is based in Bad Neustadt (Franconia), has grown into a global full-service logistics service provider with more than 6,000 employees at 140 own network and logistics sites. The owner-managed company offers its customers a complete range of logistics services, from conventional road transport and global air-and sea-freight services, to complex logistics services.
