European Cargo Logistics opens office in St. Petersburg

European Cargo Logistics GmbH (ECL), a company of Lübecker Hafen Gesellschaft mbH (LHG), opened a new office in the Russian city of St.
Petersburg on 11. November 2015 with a reception for customers and business partners. The newly founded holding company “OOO ECL Rus”, managed by Dmytro Grybkov, also commenced its business operations at the same time.
“The establishment of the office is intended to strengthen and permanently consolidate relations between the two cities of Lübeck and St. Petersburg and their ports, regardless of the political situation”, said Mayor Bernd Saxe in his opening speech.
Sebastian Jürgens, Managing Director of LHG, wants to see long-lasting cooperation with Russian customers and freight forwarders and called for political support to implement the goals set.
The establishment of the new office in Russia should be seen as an investment and firm belief in the future of the Russian market. “The Port of Lübeck, the strongest Ro/Ro port for the Swedish and Finnish markets, will do everything it can to also become the market leader in the Ro/Ro transport segment in Russia”, explained Sebastian Jürgens.
“ECL has already been working with its business partners in St. Petersburg for many years. Our common objective is to further expand and develop the business on the basis of the existing maritime routes between Lübeck and St. Petersburg”, added ECL Managing Director Jörg Ullrich.
European Cargo Logistics GmbH is market leader in the segment of paper and forest products, where it has been operating at the Lübeck site for more than 40 years. ECL is a pan-European, industry-independent operator of road and rail services, intermodal transport and forwarding services.
ECL is a 100%-subsidiary of Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft mbH.
