Port of Linz: successful corridor from/to Hamburg

The hinterland remains a key factor in the successful development, emphasised by Ingo Egloff, Member of the Board of Hafen Hamburg Marketing (HHM), on 18 September at a joint event with the port of Linz.

The hosts Alexander Till, Harald Kronsteiner and Franz Frisch welcomed numerous guests from the shipping and logistics industry on the paddle steamer MS Schönbrunn.

Harald Kronsteiner described Hamburg as the biggest partner of the port of Linz with regard to connections in seaport hinterland traffic by rail. Every day, at least one block train is operated in a rotation between the two cities.

The offer might be extended in the medium term. However, Ingo Egloff reported about the decision of the shipping company Hapag-Lloyd to relocate five of their North American services to Hamburg.
