Rail Cargo Operator extends its offer in northern Italy

Rail Cargo Operator – Austria is expanding its southbound services in the calendar week 39. The new rail product between Vienna and Piadena starts with two rotations per week.

With this, the cargo division of ÖBB runs a new non-stop rail connection between Vienna’s cargo hub Güterzentrum Wien Süd and northern Italy. The Piadena terminal is conveniently located in the catchment area of Verona, Brescia, Parma and Cremona.

Güterzentrum Wien Süd, on the other hand, is optimal for switching from road to rail, since it is located on the S1 expressway, the southern route in Austria and three trans-European rail corridors. Thus, there are sufficient national connections in Austria and, above all, good connections to Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria.

Monika Gindl-Muzik, Head of Sales Development Rail Cargo Operator – Austria GmbH, emphasises on the direct networking of economic regions and positive reactions from the market. Accordingly, the new direct connection is particularly interesting for customers operating in the tank container and trailer business, who would like to link the markets of northern Italy by rail, in particular with Eastern Austria or with Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
