Wein & Co transfers its logistics to DB Schenker

Wein & Co, an Austrian wine merchant, pursues great plans and is preparing to expand abroad, in particular to Germany. For this reason, the company has decided to outsource its entire logistics to the DB Schenker branch in Vienna-Albern.

The integrated logistics service provider will officially operate the central warehouse of Wein & Co from July 3rd, 2017, and will store around 2,500 items of the company, of which 1,800 different wines, in a professional manner. A fire section of 1.800 m² plus a goods receipt, goods issue and packaging area is available for this purpose. On average, around 2,500 pallet spaces will be occupied.

The new central warehouse is also adapted to the special needs of the wines and delicacies. In addition to state-of-the-art technology, a special air-conditioned warehouse for rare wines was installed.

DB Schenker will support Wein & Co by all sales channels: stationary trade at all 20 branches in Austria, online trading in Austria and Germany as well as catering in Austria. The logistics provider receives the orders for the full assortment of Wein & Co through a comprehensive, integrated IT landscape, and picks, packs and controls the supply of the branches, restaurants and private customers.

In 20 branches across Austria, seven of them including a wine bar and restaurant, about 280 people are employed. On top of this online trade supplies customers in around 15 countries. With almost 3 million bottles of wine, sales of more than EUR 53 million were generated in the past financial year.
