U.N. Ro-Ro İşletmeleri A.Ş., carrying out intermodal transport between Turkey and Europe with its fleet of 12 modern ships and a capacity of 322,000 HGV per year, has signed a purchase agreement to take over Ulusoy Shipping Group’s Ro-Ro operations. According to a press release of the company the enterprise value is EUR 215 million.
The takeover of Ulusoy RoRo will contribute to increase the volume of Turkey’s trade with Europe. U.N. Ro-Ro, established in 1994 by international shipping companies is currently organising regular services to the Trieste and Ancona ports in Italy from Istanbul Pendik, Istanbul Ambarlı and Mersin, and to the port of Toulon in France from Pendik. The company will also increase services to Trieste from the Çeşme Port in Izmir from 3 to 5 per week. Following the acquisition, U.N. Ro-Ro will ship at more favorable freight rates on the Çeşme-Trieste route.
In 2017, U.N. Ro-Ro aims to enlarge its capacity in Trieste port in Italy and increase the number of sailings to the Toulon port in France and complete two ship lengthening projects in Turkey, increasing vessel capacity. Moreover, new intermodal train lines will be included in the new lines of U.N. Ro-Ro from Trieste to Italy, Germany and Benelux.
