European leader in containerized seaport hinterland transport relies increasingly on partnerships

TFG Transfracht saw significant volume increase in 2016

“We are pleased that we were able to move about 910,000 TEU through our AlbatrosExpress system last year. This translates to around 11,000 trains a year, or 45 container trains per day, and represents an increase of 8 percent compared to the previous year. An increase of 3.3 percent was achieved via Bremerhaven,” said Berit Börke CEO of TFG Transfracht GmbH, at a New Year’s reception in Berlin.

TFG Transfracht is increasingly relying on partnerships to support the hinterland logistics of its customers optimally. One example is the location in Großbeeren, where AlbatrosExpress services are connected to the single waggon network of DB Cargo since December 2016.

Hinterland logistics was not just “drive, lift and lower” Berit Börke pointed out. It requires the right infrastructure. The DB IS depot in Großbeeren is currently expanded. The capacity is to be increased there from 2,000 to 2,700 TEU.

TFG Transfracht, a company of DB Mobility Logistics AG, is the European market leader in containerized seaport hinterland transport. Through its nationwide AlbatrosExpress network the company connects the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven with more than 15,000 locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on a daily basis.
