Terrain expansion and paving at Broekman Distriport

The terrain at Broekman Distriport in the Brittaniëhaven is being extensively expanded. The first phase of the project involved expanding the terrain by 20,000 square metres. The job was done within the deadline of 6 weeks by the contractor Van Ooijen and Broekman could even continue working without pause.
The first phase involved installing various elements of underground infrastructure, the sewage system and foundations, and covering with asphalt. The foundation consists of two layers of Megatrax and asphalt. The extremely high pressure strength of this foundation is unusual: 10 MPa. In comparison: this is twice the requirement for the surface of a motorway. The high pressure strength is required because Broekman intends to use the terrain for handling and storing steel, non-ferrous metals and heavy loads. Having the option of a high ground load is essential to remain flexible and to use the terrains optimally.
Currently, Van Ooijen is working on the second phase: the realisation of a storage and office park on an area of 28,000 square metres. This phase of the project will be completed in two parts. The first phase will be ready before the construction industry holidays in July. The office part with parking spaces for both cars and lorries is expected to be ready in October.
Broekman Logistics strives to be a fully-fledged logistics partner with a global reach, by creating sustainable value in the supply network with a personal touch. The more complex the logistic needs, the better. In 2015, Broekman Logistics employs more than 800 people in the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland, India, Singapore and China.
