Hergarten, a corporate group specialising on the transport of steel, has opened a hub in Kornwestheim. From the main transshipment point near Ludwigsburg, groupage cargo is distributed to the entire Stuttgart region.

On a 3,300 m² site in Kornwestheim, Hergarten has via a bridge crane system for goods handling. The new hub allows handling groupage steel up to a length of 12 meters. In addition to a 200 m² warehouse, the company uses the new transshipment base also for a sawing park for aluminum processing. In Kornwestheim two new dispatchers, three shippers and four employees found work in the prefabrication.

“With the new hub in Kornwestheim we bundle the throughput in the high volume area of Stuttgart,” explains Marcel Hergarten, managing partner of the steel forwarding company Hergarten. “For our customers, this means favorable freight synergies.”

The owner-run and medium-sized group with its headquarters in Cologne transports around 440,000 consignments annually with a total tonnage of 1.1 million tonnes.
