Schmidt group started two new key projects in Abu Dhabi

On an area of about 21,000 m², construction for the first Schmidt operations location in the Abu Dhabi region is to be started at the end of August. A warehouse providing about 1,500 m² of storage area, a silo battery containing 9 silos, a tilting platform, a packaging line as well as pertinent offices and social rooms are being built on site. Start of operations is planned for April 2016, providing – in addition to the location planned in Bahrain – one more occasion to supply clients with the complete portfolio of Schmidt services including bulk transport.
On behalf of ADT (Abu Dhabi Terminals – a federal joint venture of ADPC and Mubadala), Schmidt Middle East has successfully completed planning and supervising construction of a packaging plant for plastic granulate. Total capacity of this facility runs to approximately 150,000 tonnes p.a.
Depending on the clients’ requests, granulate can now be packaged into 25 kg bags, Big Bags or octabins via 3 bagging lines and 4 tilting platforms. The packaged goods are put into intermediate storage in dedicated warehouses until further transport.
Karl Schmidt Spedition counts among Europe’s leading logistics providers for bulk goods. Established in 1948 the family enterprise has 1,700 employees at 44 locations worldwide, operating 850 silo vehicles and about 6,000 bulk containers.
