Schenker AG brings three new top managers to the board

Schenker AG is looking to the future, with three new top managers who will make the Management Board younger, more international and even more customer focused.

The Supervisory Board of Schenker AG today appointed Xavier Garijo, 47, to serve as the Board Member for Contract Logistics. Spanish chemist and physicist has many years of experience in management positions at French, British and US companies – most recently at Reckitt Benckiser, and Revlon and Elizabeth Arden, in the consumer goods sector – and he is well versed in the needs of logistics customers.

His future fellow Board Member Thorsten Meincke, 49, brings extensive expertise in global air and ocean freight on board. Meincke, who majored in economics and most recently served as the head of global ocean freight at forwarder Kuehne + Nagel, has been appointed to serve as Board Member for Air and Ocean Freight at Schenker AG.

Christian Drenthen, 52, studied logistics and origins from the Netherlands, has been appointed to serve as Board Member for Land Transport. He has been with Schenker AG since 2015 and most recently served as the head of global land transport.

Xavier Garijo and Christian Drenthen will be assuming their new responsibilities on January 1, 2019. Meincke will be joining as soon as possible but no later than June 1.

As the Board Member for Contract Logistics, Garijo will succeed Tom Schmitt, who left Schenker AG in July. As successor to Ewald Kaiser, Thorsten Meincke will lead the newly created board division “Air/Sea Freight”, which in its former structure also included land transport.

Land Transport will become its own division, raising the total number of divisions from six to seven. After serving as a Schenker AG Board Member for nearly five years, Kaiser will be leaving Schenker at his own request and in mutual agreement with the company, most probably on May 31, 2019. Oliver Seidl has been confirmed as the CFO of Schenker AG for another five years.
