OPDR opens regional office in Northern Italy

The shipping company Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei (OPDR), headquartered in Hamburg has opened a new regional office in Milan. The Short Sea Shipping specialist strengthens its presence in the Mediterranean region and also optimises its multimodal supply chain.

The new office gives OPDR even better access to the Italian market. The central location in northern Italy offers ideal conditions to get in touch with local producers and exporters of fast-moving goods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, tomato paste or wine. Moreover OPDR now has even closer contact with the Italian colleagues of CMA CGM, since the new office is located at the premises of CMA CGM Italy in the center of Milan.

The multimodal solutions of OPDR connect Italy with the remaining countries of the European continent and the United Kingdom. Regular and fast rail connections between Milan and Rotterdam complete the Italy-portfolio. From Rotterdam, the customers can rely on the proven OPDR line services.

OPDR specialises in transporting 45-foot pallet-wide high cube containers with a capacity for up to 33 Euro pallets per unit. This allows customers to ship more goods per box. In addition, the extra 30 centimeters add space for cargo.

Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei (OPDR) has been offering transport solutions within Europe and to and from Morocco for more than 130 years. The company employs more than 250 persons.
