We decided in favour of a comprehensive, environmentally friendly operational management”, outlines Christoph Jöbstl, Branch Manager in Wundschuh. “Our company even developed a manual for employees, suppliers and customers, demonstrating our environmentally friendly way of thinking and acting, also to the partners, to ensure sustainable handling throughout the entire logistics chain.“
Moreover customers are more and more frequently asking for an exact balance of CO2 emissions, including even the sub freighters. Hence Jöbstl is Austria’s first forwarder to be certified according to EMAS, which is an abbreviation of “Eco-Management and Audit Scheme“, also known as EU Öko-Audit, a joint system combining environmental management and audit for companies aiming to improve their environmental performance.
Therefore the company has acquired vehicles equipped with Euro-6 engines as early as possible. The trucks remain within the fleet for an average time of three years. They are used for groupage transport, meaning they cover always the same route.
Christoph Jöbstl: “This is also where PPC (Predictive Powertrain
Control) can fully show its effect. Compared to competitors, the Mercedes-Benz Actros can save up to 15 per cent in fuel consumption. Our fleet thus achieves an average fuel consumption of less than 30 litres per 100 kilometres.“ By means of analysing telemetric data the Jöbstl forwarding company is training their drivers target-oriented, raises consciousness for consumption traps and promotes cost-efficient driving.
Today the company operates about 60 own vehicles, half of them refrigerated and half canvas-covered trucks. In addition they have special bodies such as a volume car with lifting platform, v3ehicles with mobile fork lifts or special equipment for pharmaceuticals transport.
