JCL Logistics to move 2 million bottles of Beck’s by rail weekly

Since the beginning of the year JCL Logistics moves for Anheuser Busch InBev in Germany 1 million bottles of Beck´s weekly from Bremen to Berlin by rail. Since August the volume has been doubled to 2 million bottles. This volume is equivalent to 60 truckloads or 89.600 crates, respectively.
JCL picks up the goods by truck from the brewery and carries them in swap bodies to the Roland transfer site at the Bremen cargo terminal, where the swap bodies are lifted on rail chassis and are transported to Berlin or Nuremberg and are being distributed to the clients within a range of 50 km. After this successful launch also the Bremen – Stuttgart leg will be added before the end of this year.
Previous to being used for transports of the beverage industry, the swap bodies had to be certified. This was only possible through re-inforcements of the structure and the side walls. With this redesign JCL now offers a clear USP for rail transports for the beverage industry.
Anheuser-Busch InBev already handled their exports to Italy by rail and also wanted to find a solution for their intra-German legs: Bremen – Berlin as well as Bremen – Nuremberg. “Last year, in JCL Logistics we found a forwarder who met our requirements and with their experience in intermodal transports offers a flawless solution“, says Muamer Asani, Logistics Manager with Anheuser Busch InBev.
JCL Logistics headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, operating over 40 branches with 1,300 employees in more than 14 countries, with activities in the fields of transport and product logistics. Specialising in the healthcare, chemical, retail and automotive industry, JCL Logistics has generated a turnover of EUR 360 million in 2014.
