A big deal of money will be invested at Salzburg Airport in 2019 to keep the airport infrastructure fit for the future. The largest share of EUR 26.2 million will be used in spring for the five-weeks general refurbishment of the runways.
The remaining EUR 5.05 million for the current financial year are earmarked for equipment and vehicles (EUR 1.54 million), the renovation of the oil tank (EUR 0.6 million), IT software and hardware (EUR 0.59 million), innovations from the strategy process (EUR 0.37 million), reconstruction of the administration building (EUR 0.35 million), small-scale construction works (EUR 0.24 million) and various other measures.
The current runway 15/33 was concreted in May 1960, thus almost 60 years ago. Now the old concrete runway 15/33 will be completely closed from 24 April 2019 until 28 May 2019. According to Salzburg Airport, a quick general refurbishment is thus ensured.
