Impending bans on diesel and environmental zones are forcing people to rethink – Havi, in close partnership with the manufacturer Scania and the customer McDonald’s, relies on LNG technology and is expanding its fleet.

First assessment after using LNG for six months: The environmentally friendly technology also scores points in practice. Since November 2018, the company has been operating under the motto “Our environment. Our drive.” bringing sustainability in the food service industry on the road. At the end of June, Havi will have more than 35 LPG vehicles at its Duisburg site. The company intends to pursue this trend and, in cooperation with Scania, convert up to 70 per cent of its fleet to alternative drive systems by 2021.

As part of its sustainability strategy, among other things, McDonald’s plans to reduce CO2 emissions in restaurants, administration, production and the supply chain by more than 30 per cent worldwide by 2030. “Through our many years of cooperation, we have developed a similar understanding of sustainable business. The comprehensive measures taken by our logistics partner to reduce CO2 emissions are a good example of this. Because Havi’s innovative projects help us achieve our global climate goals,” says Heike Bierweiler, Director of Supply Chain, Quality Assurance & Sustainability at McDonald’s.
