For Graz-Köflacher Bahn und Busbetrieb GmbH, the year 2015 was marked by the sale of a 50 percent stake in LTE Logistik- und Transport- GmbH, the cargo subsidiary, to the German Rhenus group. Operating locations in eight European countries and the sister company Adria Transport, a successful joint venture established by GKB and the port of Koper in Slovenia some years ago, the GKB/LTE group carries around 6 million tonnes of goods per year across Europe.

As an innovative private rail company, LTE runs more than 30 electric and diesel locomotives. Franz Weintögl, CEO GKB said: “This cooperation with a global logistics provider, gives new opportunities to our group. Together with Rhenus, we will expand the cargo transport division focusing on Central and Eastern Europe.”
