Deutsche Transportkompagnie Erich Bogdan GmbH & Co. KG (DTC) will become Gebrüder Weiss: on January 1st, 2019, the two-year transition process resulting from the acquisition will be concluded with a change of name for the company, reads a press release.
In early 2017, the internationally operating transport and logistics company acquired DTC and integrated the three locations, Nuremberg, Lossburg and Lüdenscheid into its own network. The approximately 240 employees were taken on. The DTC vehicles will continue to be used but be replaced by the orange Gebrüder Weiss trucks when new ones will be purchased.
“Over the past two years, we have gradually introduced the orange color to DTC. A smooth transition for our employees and customers was important to us,” says Alexander Eberharter, Branch Manager at Gebrüder Weiss Nuremberg (previously DTC). The business processes were coordinated with each other and the services merged. In the future, investments are planned for digitisation as well as in the further education and training of employees.
Gebrüder Weiss offers comprehensive national and international transport services in the areas of land transport, air and sea freight as well as logistics solutions – particularly for the automotive and high-tech industries. “Previous DTC customers have already been benefiting for some time from the expanded service portfolio and the uniformly high quality standards worldwide with the Gebrüder Weiss network,” says Eberharter.
At the heart of its logistics activities is the location in Nuremberg, which serves to support the Gebrüder Weiss locations in southern Germany, namely Passau, Memmingen, Lindau, Aldingen and Esslingen. With a handling area of 11,500 m² and 19,200 m² of logistics space, the Franconian location is ideally suited as a hub for transports between Germany and Austria as well as to Central and South-East Europe. Transports from Bulgaria, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Hungary are already being managed and optimized via the hub.
