A total of 72 young women and men have recently started their training at Gebrüder Weiss in Austria, Germany and Switzerland (2018: 68). This means that the logistics company continues to engage a high number of apprentices.

“Young people can rely on us to provide them with sound training and a wide range of career opportunities in a globally active company. When combined with the intensive level of training provided, this makes us an attractive employer,” says Monika Mandl, Head of Human Resources Development at Gebrüder Weiss.

Around 150 trainers specialising in apprentices and their needs provide targeted support for apprentices from day one and actively integrate them into the Group network. The logistics provider currently employs a total of 251 trainees at 31 locations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Young people looking for an apprenticeship can apply to Gebrüder Weiss for numerous professional paths, including freight forwarding agent, business logistics specialist, IT technician, or office clerk. In addition to receiving intensive specialist training, HR managers also attach great importance to developing the personal and social skills of apprentices. As such, an apprenticeship also includes an extensive program of joint excursions and team-building activities, an example of which is the Gebrüder Weiss apprentice camp.

The Group-wide online learning platform “myOrangeCollege” also helps apprentices acquire knowledge individually and at their own pace. Multimedia learning offers make it easier for apprentices to find their way in everyday work and logistics life.

The logistics group will once again be providing information about the wide range of training and career opportunities at Gebrüder Weiss during special information days starting in September 2019. Interested parties are then invited to take a look behind the scenes at various locations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Trainers and logistics experts are available on site to answer questions relating to individual cases and to explain the various job profiles and teaching content in greater detail.
