From 4 to 12 July 2015 the Tour of Austria will take place for the 67th time. The traditional high-performance cycling event will lead twenty national and international cycling teams through all of the nine federal provinces. DB Schenker will support the about 160 athletes and the Tour of Austria organisational team with the logistic handling and will ensure gapless supply along the entire route.
With more than 17,000 meters in altitude and a distance of about 1,450 km, this is one of the hardest tours for the professional cyclists. The supply of the 160 athletes with food and beverages, as well as smooth logistics are therefore particularly important. More than 10,000 litters of beverages are delivered and distributed in special refrigerated trucks to all eight stage finishes. The DB Schenker professionals are also on their way with special refrigerated trucks to provide liquid to the athletes along the route without loosing time.
Wolfgang Weiss, Tour Director of the Tour of Austria, appreciates the cooperation with DB Schenker: “The Tour of Austria is one of the most traditional sporting events in Austria and ranks among the top European cycling tours. We are pleased to have DB Schenker aboard as an experienced partner who meets the high demands of the tour and can respond flexibly and quickly to the specific needs of professional sport.”
Kurt Leidinger, CEO of DB Schenker in Austria and Southeast Europe, adds: “We are very proud that DB Schenker has been selected as the official logistics partner of the Tour of Austria. Thanks to our many years of experience and our logistical expertise, we can meet all the requirements of this high performance sports event and guarantee a smooth supply of the athletes along the way – from the plains to the high mountains. ”
