DB Schenker extends its logistic network in Czech Republic

DB Schenker has opened two new facilities for land transport in Nový Jičín and Humpolec. This investment into modern warehouse facilities of large storage area confirms the trend of systematic extension of warehousing capacities and logistic network throughput and increase of quality of offered services.

The new DB Schenker operations in Nový Jičín are located in the local CTPark. The land transport logistic centre comprises a hall of 1.850 m2. The facility is equipped with 22 hydraulic platforms including a pair of jumbo platforms and two folding platforms for vans. The handling equipment can move safely inside the facility; the warehouse building features a unique load-bearing structure without any columns – just as it is the case in the central logistic cross dock in Rudná near Prague.

The main advantages of the logistic terminal are good transport accessibility and modern operating technologies due to which it is also used as a short-term warehouse for important regional business partners. This new branch will offer a whole portfolio of professional logistic services for customers from the Northern and Central Moravia in particular.

DB Schenker uses this cross dock transloading centre for distribution and collection of shipments from the North Moravian region. It is connected with other company branches located in Moravia and rest of the Czech Republic by direct lines and international lines from Poland, Germany and Slovakia terminate here.

In Humpolec the new, modern warehouse facility features 2.642 m2 area and 10.5 m height. One entry gate is accompanied with four further hydraulic platforms. The moderately heated storage area adjoins the office and bathroom/wash facilities of 200 m2. “The new facility now fully corresponds with the potential of our Humpolec branch as regards its capacity and quality,” says Tomáš Holomoucký, managing director of DB Schenker in Czech Republic.

The local logistic terminal serves as an x-dock transloading site for collection and distribution of shipments within the Vysočina region. It is also connected with lines to Prague and Brno operating on daily basis. The first goods which DB Schenker stored in this new warehouse belonged to their long-term client Albis Plastic ČR.
