For Duisburger Hafen AG (duisport), the China business continues to be an important growth driver. With 35 weekly trains, the top position in this traffic field has been consolidated – this is the summary in the semi-annual accounts of 2019, published in the beginning of the week.

Against this background, duisport cooperates with international partners on joint projects along the Belt & Road corridors. This is intended to shorten the journey times of freight trains between Duisburg and various destinations in China.

The container volume of Duisburger Hafen AG (duisport) in the first half of 2019 was exactly 1.96 million TEU. This slight decline compared with the previous year (2.01 million TEU) is in particular due to the low volumes of Scandinavia caused by safety restrictions in rail transport.

With a share of around 55 per cent, container handling is the most important goods segment of the duisport Group, and this trend is rising. Total goods handling fell by 5 per cent to 31 million tonnes in the first half of 2019 (2018: 32.6 million tonnes). In the semi-annual accounts 2019 of Duisburger Hafen AG it is also stated, that the global economy is slowing noticeably
