The locomotive fleet of ČD Cargo has been extended with the TRAXX 187.344 locomotive (type TRAXX F140 AC3) from Railpool´s fleet. This locomotive was first deployed on the 11th of April 2019 on a block train from Passau to Krems an der Donau.
The locomotive equipped with the “last mile” system is primarily intended for operations on Austrian tracks, including rail sidings. It is the first TRAXX locomotive in normal operation at ČD Cargo, a “forerunner” of the ten-unit series of TRAXX F140 MS3, whose deliveries should start later this year.
The Bombardier TRAXX 3 platform is the most modern four-axle locomotive platform in Europe. All of its three models, TRAXX AC3, TRAXX MS3 and TRAXX DC3, offer optional Last Mile function, a support diesel engine which bridges non-electrified sections.
