In 2020, Cargo Service GmbH (CargoServ) will again use “railpower zero” traction current from 100 per cent renewable energy produced by ÖBB Infrastruktur AG (92 per cent of hydro and eight per cent of wind power). The resulting upstream CO2 emissions will be compensated by the reforestation of the Esquinas rain forest in Costa Rica.

Furthermore, the company has extended its partnership with klimaaktiv, which was started back in 2015, by another two years. This initiative aims to increase the market share of climate-friendly technologies and services. Renewable energy sources are increasingly used and the energy efficiency of consumption is increased.

Founded in 2001, Cargo Service GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Logistik Service GmbH (LogServ) and operates as a private railway company that carries out freight transport on the public rail infrastructure. In the 2018/2019 business year CargoServ generated sales of EUR 33.6 million, had 39 employees and transported a volume of 5 million tonnes.
