The year 2017 brought Austrian Post a new parcel record. 97 million parcels were transported.
“Compared to the year 2016 with 81 million parcels, this corresponds to an increase of almost 20 percent – despite increasing competition on the parcel market,” stated a press release from the company. In it, the increasing B2C parcel volumes (parcels to private customers), which are due to the positive development in online trade, are referred to be the driving force of growth.
On average, Austrian Post processes 320,000 parcels daily. An increase is particularly noticeable around Christmas, where the average parcel volumes amount to around 500,000 shipments per day. On December 11, 2017, a new all-time high was achieved: 600,000 parcels were distributed throughout Austria by the Post on this day.
