The Elvira Göstl company was founded in 1993 in Sallingberg in Waldviertel, Lower Austria. Today Elvira Ottendorfer, née Göstl, employs 17 people. The forwarding agency specialises in commercial, scrap and rubble disposal.
The in-house fleet comprises nine trucks equipped with a crane, roll-off and skip loader. The new Actros 1863 LS, a tractor unit with GigaSpace driver’s cab in ruby red, will be equipped with a semi-trailer with crane and transport scrap all over Austria.
Elvira Göstl GmbH is a pioneer when it comes to new vehicle models. The new Actros replaces the predecessor model: the Actros 2551 with crane body was the first Actros of the previous generation ordered in Austria in 2011.
The new “star” in the fleet of the Lower Austrian company not only puts a lot of horsepower on the road, but also actively supports the driver in the longitudinal and lateral guidance of the truck with “Active Drive Assist.” The system can autonomously brake, accelerate and drive keep the vehicle in the lane through active steering movements.
Anton Leitner picked up the vehicle together with his boss in Wörth and will drive it in the future. “It’s a whole different driving experience when the system intervenes. But once you get used to it, it’s really relieving,” he says.
What is also new are the missing mirrors: in the new Actros – the world’s first in a truck from serial production – main and wide-angle mirrors will be replaced by a “MirrorCam”. Two rear-facing cameras transmit the image to displays on the A-pillars in the cab.
