“We developed well in Styria, but we have reached our limits. With this step, we were able to gain much more capacity in one swoop. We have been thinking for some time about how to expand our office and warehouse space. In the course of the acquisition, we will also relocate our headquarters to Wundschuh, where we are expanding,” said Günter Hahn, branch manager at Kühne + Nagel Styria and Carinthia, at a press conference in Graz on 24 July. The investment volume for this project is around EUR 2.5 million. Completion is scheduled for mid-2020.
“With over 130 overland branch offices throughout Europe, Kuehne + Nagel is already connecting all markets in the region. By integrating the Jöbstl network, transport operations and in particular connections to neighbouring countries will be further strengthened while increasing frequency of depatures and shortening leadtimes. Expecially medium-sized companies will benefit from our expanded portfolio of offerings ”, explains Uwe Hött, Senior Vice President Overland Europe at Kuehne + Nagel.
Christoph Jöbstl, Managing Director of the Jöbstl Group, describes the main motive for transferring the family business to the hands of Kühne + Nagel with the fact that they can provide employees with more security than before. “The question was how to set up the company so that the shipping company will be still there in 20 years’ time. We simply lack the air and sea freight business. It is therefore best for employees to accommodate them in an international group.”
The approximately 180 employees of the Styrian forwarding company will be taken over by Kuehne + Nagel – including the managing directors. Christoph Jöbstl: “We stay as long as we will be needed.”
