The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group not only invests in the expansion of rail logistics services, but also in innovations to make rail freight transport more attractive in the long term. Last year, for example, the groundbreaking TransANT car body and superstructure was introduced to the market. With this innovation, RCG now occupies third place in the BVL Sustainability Award.
The awarding of the Sustainability Award for Logistics, launched jointly by BVL Austria and BVL Germany, took place for the 8th time this year. Top companies from industry, trade and service were awarded a prize in the course of the 35th Logistics Dialogue 2019 on April 11th.
The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group was ranked in the third place for their sustainable platform concept TransANT. Andreas Redling, Managing Director of Rail Cargo Wagon – Austria GmbH, took over the prize. “With TransANT, we want to bring even more cargo transports from the road to the environmentally friendly rail,” he explains. We are all the more pleased that we have been awarded the BVL Sustainability Award. An important sign that we are on the right path.”
TransANT offers ÖBB freight car users a payload advantage of up to four tonnes – thanks to the 20 per cent lighter chassis. In addition, the modular structures are available in various industry-specific versions. The body changes enable customer-oriented adaptations to different logistical requirements. With TransANT, for example, transports of containers, wood, bulk or general cargo can be handled effectively. Currently the first 30 TransANT are already in production for a customer.
