A total of 18 high-ranking representatives of Austria’s export industry follow the call of the foreign trade department of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) and travel to Tanzania from 28 to 30 January 2019 as part of an economic mission. Many participants are experienced global exporters such as the manufacturer of injection molding machines Engel, FHW Franz Haas Waffelmaschinen or rail producer VAE.

“Tanzania is new territory for most Austrian companies. These markets provide particularly good opportunities, where the competitors are not yet represented,” emphasises Kurt Müllauer, Austrian business delegate for Tanzania. With an average growth of more than 6 per cent over the past five years, the country is also one of Africa’s most dynamic markets.

Thomas Kopp, Managing Director of the Austrian logistics provider 3LOG premium logistics, deliberately decided to found a branch office in Tanzania: “There are no other Austrian freight forwarders, at the same time Tanzania is being considered as a future market and gateway to East and Central Africa. It was therefore very clear to us that we wanted to be there right from the start.”

3LOG premium logistics GmbH, headquartered in Vienna, organises worldwide air-express processing, road transport and supplementary services in cooperation with experienced partner companies. According to their own statement, the company has extensive know-how in the logistics sector with regard to warehousing, order picking as well as advertising and promotional mailing.

Kurt Müllauer shows Austrian companies opportunities to gain a foothold in the promising market of Tanzania: “Particularly in the infrastructure sector, there are great opportunities for Austrian companies – from roads, railways, ports and electricity supply to healthcare facilities. But the manufacturing industry is dependent on plants and machinery from abroad. Therefore, now is the time to enter the market.”

At a business forum in the metropolis of Dar Es Salaam, numerous individual appointments and talks at ministries in the capital Dodoma, Austrian companies will have the opportunity to make a lasting impression and initiate lucrative business.
