Among other things, the expansion of strategic alliances and partnerships will open the way to distinctiveness, emphasized managing director Mag. Harald Jony at a “Business Breakfast” organized by the Network Logistics Association (VNL) in Vienna.
In his presentation, the WienCont manager introduced the new cooperation with the company Helrom. The UK-registered company is currently building an intermodal rail system for the transport of non-cranable semi-trailers in Europe. With these, an axis from Duisburg to Vienna Freudenau Terminal 2) v. v. shall be installed.
It is planned to start regular services in the spring of 2019, based on a new system for the hydraulic loading of unaccompanied vehicles. Helrom intends to use its own wagons and its own rail transport company, while WienCont is to take over the role as official branch office in eastern Austria and the transshipment in the port of Vienna Freudenau.
WienCont operates the trimodal container terminal at the port of Vienna and also operates in container trade and container repair. In addition, the company offers customs and trucking services at the port of Vienna. In 2017, WienCont reported 405,000 container turnovers. On the 170,000 m² company premises, around 90 trucks handle around 600 trucks a day and 86 block trains a week. In addition, there are 2 million TEUs in the depot and 4,500 SOLAS weighings per year.
