On October 6, the eighth edition of the speed networking event WConnecta took place in Frankfurt. About 265 participants from 148 companies seized the opportunity to establish new contacts with European hauliers and freight forwarders. Numerous German companies were among them.
During the event, about 2,550 short talks and more than 625 additional appointments were made. The WConnecta is thus Europe’s largest networking event for road transport. Since 2010, the Wtransnet foundation has organised this event alternately in Barcelona and Madrid. Now a first one took place in Frankfurt.
The decision to choose a new venue was made, as more forwarders and freight carriers from Central Europe showed interest in the event. “We have been organising WConnecta for eight consecutive years and the event in Frankfurt is one of our most successful. For the first time, we decided to organise the event outside of Spain to reach more international participants. We succeeded in doing so, as there were a total of 19 European nations. Many of the companies have participated in WConnecta for the first time. This demonstrates the relevance and growth of our event. We are very happy about how the event has developed in Frankfurt,” said José María Sallés, CEO of the Wtransnet foundation after the event.
Italian, Spanish, Polish and German hauliers and freight carriers were strongly represented in Frankfurt. They accounted for about 70 percent of the participating companies. But also companies from Bulgaria, Ireland, Hungary and Turkey came to the metropolis at the Main river. Around 50 percent of the companies offered free truck capacity, while the other half provides freight.
WConnecta is based on so-called speed dating. Before the exchange between the logistics companies starts, all participants are divided according to their interests and activity fields. In the Networking Area, they have the opportunity to get to know each other and to exchange business-related information in short, seven-minute conversations. The Cargo Area allows to discuss details of potential cooperation afterwards.
