Twan Steenweg appointed President of PS Trade Trans (Poland)

Twan Steenweg, a Dutch national with 25 years of experience in the Supply Chain and Logistics sector, has been appointed President (CEO) of PS Trade Trans, a freight forwarding enterprise of the PKP Cargo Group. Under his leadership the company will be supporting the largest Polish rail freight operator in the continuation of its successful expansion of both its international business and its portfolio of services.
“PS Trade Trans will play an important role in the further development of our integrated logistics services and their sales on the international markets. Our ambition is to become a logistics and freight forwarding ‘one-stop-shop’ for our clients. Using the resources available to the PKP Cargo Group in the field of comprehensive forwarding and logistical services, we are now able to provide services – independently or in collaboration with partners – throughout all stages of the transport of goods, ranging from storage, handling, customs clearance and to the carriage itself, on a scale that is virtually global”, said Jacek Neska, Member for Sales of the PKP Cargo Management Board, and head of the PS Trade Trans Supervisory Board.
Twan Steenweg graduated in maritime navigation in the Netherlands. He went on to obtain an MBA at the University of Tilburg/Tias Business School, specialising in Transport and Logistics. During his twenty-five year career, he has worked for a number of world-renowned companies, including C.H. Robinson, Kuehne + Nagel and Agility Logistics. At C.H. Robinson, a company with a strong position in the United States, he held the position of Corporate Sales Executive for Europe. During his time in Kuehne+Nagel, he was responsible for product development and the introduction of new sales areas, including the building of a global sales organization, e.g. for the areas of China, South America and India for Groupage. At Agility Logistics, a global provider of integrated supply chain solutions, the new Trade Trans President handled the development of road transport in Europe.
PS Trade Trans, a part of the PKP Cargo Group, has 25 years of experience in freight forwarding and logistics. It provides transport services, cargo handling, warehousing and customs services across Europe. It also has a sound logistics infrastructure, which can provide support for the largest and most difficult of transport projects. PS Trade Trans offers, among other: rail and road forwarding, the organisation of maritime, inland waterway and air transport, transportation of trains and trucks with ferries between Poland and Scandinavia, transportation of oversized and extremely heavy cargo, comprehensive customs services, logistics for biomass and grain, cargo handling at ports and land-based terminals and warehouse logistics.
With average revenues amounting to approximately PLN 500 million (EUR 118 million) in recent years, PS Trade Trans annually organises the transport of an average of 10 million tonnes of goods, travelling almost 20 million kilometres across Europe annually. The company employs 350 people, divided among 18 customs agencies and 12 branches.
PKP Cargo has been the owner of PS Trade Trans shares since 2011. In February 2015, it has acquired the remainder of the shares (44.44 percent), thereby gaining full control of the company.
