Export-oriented companies in the Graz catchment area to benefit from better worldwide connections via the Istanbul hub
Istanbul – Graz (GRZ) flights are planned as 4 flights per week and will be launched as of.
Since June 22, 2015 Turkish Airlines operates four weekly nonstop-flights linking Graz airport to the Istanbul hub. Via Istanbul 275 destinations in 110 countries can be currently reached within the liner network of the Turkish airline.
To Styria’s economy, industry and tourism the new route means new and important impulses: Dr. Christian Buchmann, Landesrat: “The new, direct connection between Graz and the metropolis of Istanbul – the gateway to the Orient, is a milestone for a positive development of Styria as an economic and tourist destination. For exporting enterprises it offers improved access to new markets, thereby creating also opportunities to secure jobs and create new ones.”
“Through the new connection to the Istanbul hub, Graz Airport has made an important step towards internationalisation of Graz. Graz is therefore better connected to destinations worldwide, which is a benefit for the domestic economy and tourism,” Gerhard Rüsch, City Councellor for Economy and Tourism, is pleased.
“We welcome Turkish Airlines at Graz Airport!” said Mag. Gerhard Widmann, CEO Graz Airport. “This is a special day for the Graz Airport, but also for me personally. The range of global connections has once again become much larger for our catchment area, which has so far been covering Styria, Carinthia, Hungary and Slovenia. ”
