In 2019, the state championship for freight forwarding agents will be held for the third time, this time from 7 to 9 November at the Wifi Vienna. Here, the best graduates of the apprenticeship of forwarding merchant from all over Austria come together to prove their professional skills.
Participants compete in seven different modules, in which they have to solve various practical tasks. Among other things, the young people have to present their services in the fields of new customer acquisition, quotation calculation, transport costing and processing, sea freight handling as well as claims and claims handling. In total, the competitions last 16 hours, divided over three days.

An independent jury, consisting of Austria-wide experts in the forwarding industry, then rates the services. “To be part of the competition means a lot. Each participant brings a great performance,” says Alfred Wolfram, chairman of the Association Spedition and Logistics in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ). The winner gets a travel voucher for a short trip with company (flight and hotel) to a European capital.
In 2015, the Association of Forwarding and Logistics initiated the state championships for forwarding agents for the first time . As a result, the profession of the forwarding agent qualified as the first non-manual profession for the international skills competitions, where Austrian representatives have already successfully represented the profession with a 2nd and 3rd place.
