Steinhoff-Gruppe sets up logistics facility at “logport IV“

The Steinhoff group, one of the world’s leading providers in the furniture industry, domiciled in South Africa, will be the first company to set up operations at the logistics area logport IV in Kamp-Lintfort with its subsidiary Global Warehouse. After the start of the site development plan for logport IV it took just three months to acquire its first large client.

A 55,000 m² distribution centre for the storage and distribution of furniture and furnishings will be built on a 108,000 m² plot of land. The new logistics facility will be used mainly to expand the e-Commerce activities of the Steinhoff group. Both the regional and national distribution of furniture and furnishings will be processed through this location, which is situated directly on the feeder highway B 528. The planned start-up date is spring 2017.

“The proximity to the highly-efficient duisport logistics hub was the main factor behind our decision to move to logport IV. In the future, all containers for our logistics facility will be delivered and processed through the Port of Duisburg, which offers optimum connections to all relevant sea ports and distribution centres in Europe. This will have the effect of significantly improving efficiency in the supply chains”, says Hans-Ulrich Bussas, Managing Director of Kappa Immobilien Verwaltungs GmbH & Co. KG, the investor company of the Steinhoff group.

The Steinhoff group has about 90,000 employees around the globe, achieving annual sales of about ZAR 134 billion (about EUR 9.8 billion).
