The general cargo cooperative 24plus logistics network has expanded its management board. As of 1 May 2019, Stefan Rehmet, as the designated successor to Peter Baumann, joined the board of the general cargo cooperative. The 55-year-old is a proven land transport expert with many years of management experience in freight forwarders and in corporate networks.

Stefan Rehmet comes from Streck Transport in Freiburg, where he was responsible for the land transport, logistics and distribution departments in Germany. At Streck Transport, he represented the interests of the medium-sized company in various network committees, including as a shareholder representative in the general cargo network System Alliance, as an advisory board member in the main transport organisation Cargo Network and as a franchisee representative for general cargo cooperative cargoLine.

Previously, Stefan Rehmet, who began his career in 1981 with a training as a forwarding agent and continued his education as a traffic economist and business economist, held various management positions in the forwarding and logistics companies Danzas, Hamann International, Dachser and DHL Freight.

Uwe Müller, spokesman for the Supervisory Board of 24plus: “Our new Managing Director Stefan Rehmet knows both worlds, that of medium-sized companies and those of large corporations, and has taken a deep look into various network organisations in his professional life.”

Stefan Rehmet wants to use his training phase to get to know the 24plus partners better. The new 24plus Managing Director sees the general cargo sector in a transformation that needs to be shaped. He is convinced that the principle of exclusivity in general cargo cooperatives is a thing of the past due to the concentration process in the general cargo market.

“The cooperation of general cargo cooperatives has long been a reality, it is to accept and for which it has to find new ways. Due to the ever-changing needs of regional network partners, cooperation alone can not satisfy these needs,” says the new 24plus Managing Director. Therefore, it is necessary that all cooperatives open for appropriate quantity controls.

Stefan Rehmet sees it as his task to promote cooperation between the networks and to make them more permeable with IT systems. !I would like to introduce a bit more startup mentality into the general cargo business,” he adds.
