Linz Airport is pleased about the significant passenger growth last year. With an increase of 63,791 passengers, Linz Airport recorded significant passenger growth last year.
In the cargo segment, Linz Airport recorded a slight decline with a total of 52,414 tonnes (-2.9% / preliminary result). This is mostly due to the cargo connection Ljubljana-Linz-Leipzig that has been unbundled, and now the entire capacity of the Upper Austrian market is available. This has led to a decline in transit freight. Local cargo traffic in trucking increased by 0.9%.
In the summer season 2019 Monastir and Sharm El Sheikh will be added to the program. The flight capacity to Antalya and Burgas will be doubled, the schedule in Greece will be increased by weekly flights to Heraklion and Rhodes.
“We will get a great opportunity from the end of April until the end of May, as Turkish Airlines will relocate its daily Salzburg-Istanbul flights to Linz due to the Salzburg piste barrier. This gives us the unique opportunity to convince Turkish Airlines of the market in Upper Austria. If this test is successful, we will come much closer to our goal of establishing a regular flight connection between Linz and Istanbul,” says Norbert Draskovits, Managing Director Flughafen Linz GesmbH.
