In a three-day competition, this year in Vienna, young freight forwarding experts will be taking part to showcase their skills in seven practical specialist modules, such astransport calculation or implementation.
“We call all those who have completed their apprenticeship as forwarding agents by the 31st of June 2019 and are born 1st January 1995 or later, to sign up. Participation is worthwhile in any case! SkillsAustria is the springboard to compete with colleagues from all over the world,” said Guggi Deiser, chairwoman of the training division of the forwarding association within the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ).
The basis for the assignment to the WorldSkills as well as to the EuroSkills 2020 in Graz is participating in SkillsAustria. The winner of the last SkillsAustria in 2017, Michaela Duić, was in the 2nd place at EuroSkills 2018 in Budapest. It goes without saying that good job-specific English language skills are required for the international competitions; hence the participants in the Austrian competition are exepected to have them.
“The know-how and the skills of our trained forwarding agents are a figurehead of our industry, and the excellent training in our companies contributes to this,” Alfred Wolfram, chairman of the forwarding association, says confidently and asks the training companies to draw their apprentices’ attention to AustriaSkills, so they register in time. The best will win a short trip for two (flight and hotel) to a European capital.
