At the national championships of the profession of
forwarding agents, which took place from 7-11 November in Vienna, Austria’s
best young talent was sought. In the final round, the candidates presented
their skills in a three-day competition. In seven different modules – from
English presentations to transport handling, transport calculation and
complaints processing – the whole range and variety of the forwarding
profession was shown.
In the end, the jury of experts from all over Austria chose Tobias Tropper from
the forwarding agency Kühne + Nagel as the winner. Second place was awarded to
the Lower Austrian Christian Zeilinger (also Kühne + Nagel) and third place to
the Tyrolean Alexander Knab from the forwarding agency Gebrüder Weiss.
Alfred Wolfram, Chairman of the Forwarding and Logistics Association of the
Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ), emphasised the high level of performance of
all candidates at the award ceremony: “All apprenticeship graduates who
were here today are winners – they are the best in Austria. The courage to take
part in such a competition deserves special respect!”
Guggi Deiser, Head of the Working Group of Training and Continued Education in
the Forwarding and Logistics Association, also congratulated the participants.
“Working in the forwarding industry is technically demanding, requires a
high level of expertise, personal motivation and stress resistance. Through
this competition our forwarding industry shows the interesting professional
opportunities it offers.”
The next challenge for Tobias Tropper will be the European Professional Championships 2020, where he will compete as an Austrian candidate against forwarding merchants from other nations.
