Siemens and duisport set up intelligent truck supply control

Agreed in spring between Siemens and Duisburger Hafen AG (duisport), the strategic cooperation to implement a traffic guidance system is entering the next stage. After having received all approvals, systems for traffic detection and dynamic signs will be installed in the areas logport I in Rheinhausen and Ruhrort, starting from calendar week 50.
The test operation of the pilot project starts early next year.
With these first steps we come a big step closer to our goal of optimising the efficiency of traffic flows in the Port of Duisburg. The intelligent truck supply control can reduce bottlenecks and congestion, but also create new capacities in the future. Thereby we are able to sustainably increase the efficiency of our logistics location,”
emphasizes Erich Staake, CEO of Duisburger Hafen AG.
Following a test stage at the beginning of next year, the system will be activated. Additional signs with travel time information will enable truck drivers to select the optimal route. An intelligent app informing drivers, logistics providers and terminal operators about the planned and expected arrival times, is also being developed. The system will collect truck data, anonymise this information, bundle it with regional real-time traffic data such as travel times, traffic conditions and disorders, and display it on mobile devices.
