The Austrian apprentice statistics 2017 show a pleasing upward trend for the forwarding and logistics industry: the number of apprentices in the Austrian freight forwarding and logistics industry has continued to rise, by seven per cent in total. The apprenticeship to become a forwarding agent increased from 727 to 776 apprentices, and for forwarding logistics from 70 to 74 apprentices.
“A completed apprenticeship in the forwarding industry is considered a profession with a future, there are various opportunities for advancement and a good earning potential. Also, the professional life is very varied thanks to the well-founded technical training,” Guggi Deiser, expert group official OÖ gives a positive outlook.
The quality of Austrian apprenticeship training in the forwarding industry is confirmed by “world-class successes” in national, European and also international professional championships: after successful state championships of forwarding merchants in 2015 and 2017, when young forwarding merchants from among the best graduates of the country, Austria was able to achieve the 3rd place at the WorldSkills 2017 in Abu Dhabi for the first time.
Now the profession of forwarding merchant was approved as the first non-commercial one at EuroSkills 2018 in Budapest. The winner of AustriaSkills 2017, Ms. Michaela Dužić, will represent Austria there.
“At the WorldSkills 2019 in Russia, we will apply for our participation with the young forwarding agent Nadine Altmann, second at AustriaSkills 2017,” says Sandra Huber, Managing Director of the Austrian forwarding and logistics association. “I am glad that more and more young women enter the profession and develop successfully,” she adds.
