SBB Cargo and Sersa Schweiz, a company of the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, want to handle more transports by rail for the construction and waste disposal sector. Rudi Hoz, Head of Customer and Market Support at Sersa, says, “We can succeed with competitive logistics concepts, including up and downstream trucking if required.”

Especially in terms of personnel and locomotive resources, the two companies want to work together more closely. They are also considering to pursue a joint strategy regarding the purchase of containers and possibly waggons. “Having sufficient and marketable transport containers is a factor that should not be underestimated in the segment that covers our cooperation,” explains Stefan Heeb, senior key account manager for construction logistics at SBB Cargo.

The new cooperation will also examine to what extent joint offers could be submitted for tenders. Despite the cooperation agreement, the two companies will act as autonomous, independent parties at all times.
