Salzburg Airport received the latest order for its e-fleet 13th December. The Cargo Master Loader Green Line is a special vehicle for efficient loading of freight and baggage and is operated 100% with electricity. “We are once again reducing our CO2 footprint,” says Bettina Ganghofer, Managing Director of Salzburg Airport.

Powered by a hydro-electric system, the Cargo Master Loader is a self-propelled device that can be used for lower deck and main deck aircraft handling. Up to 14 tonnes of load can be lifted to height of 5.60 metres.

The innovative asymmetric adapter system of the front platform makes the vehicle extremely manoeuvrable, ensuring a fast and safe approach to a wide range of aircraft types. This means that even with more traffic, there won’t be delays in freight handling.

Despite the acquisition costs of around EUR 320,000, the decision was made in favour of the electric variant. The alternative with a combustion engine would have been cheaper by EUR 50,000. Airport Authorised Representative and Traffic & Sales Manager Christopher Losmann: “I think, we as the leading company in Salzburg, also have a model role.”

This new acquisition will enbale Salzburg Airport to ensure flexible and rapid handling of freight on the apron, and other services. Another example of the new products in the cargo area is the DPD Parcel-Shop, which opened in October.
