Rhenus-Group enters the market in Dubai

The Rhenus Group established a national organization in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and opened its first location in Dubai. There, the Group operates the company Rhenus Logistics Gulf DWC LLC, a 100 percent subsidiary of the Rhenus Group, which was established on May 1, 2016.

Rhenus Logistics Gulf DWC specializes in the handling of air and sea freight as well as customs clearance for imports and exports. The offered products also include project business, warehousing and overland transport to the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council. “By developing a new national organization with its own management structures, new transport routes can be opened up and the product range can be Extended,” says Gerrit Kloezeman, Managing Director of Rhenus UAE.

The newly opened department is located in the Dubai Logistics City, one of six clusters in the Dubai World Central (DWC) free trade area. Due to the strategic location between the the Al Maktoum International Airport, which will prospectively be the biggest airport in the world, and the Jebel Ali Seaport, transport as well as production and logistics areas are interrelated. The latest extension of the airport aims at handling 16 million tonnes of cargo and 220 million passengers annually.

“Our society will particularly focus on import transactions. Our conditions for air and sea freight are particularly attractive to Dubai, and in addition, we also enable other business units to enter the market,” adds Gerrit Kloezeman.

The services are offered for the entire UAE, and also the Region Middle East will be developed in the future. “Due to strong demand we were able to extended our forwarding business to Dohar (Qatar) earlier than planned,” said Gerrit Kloezeman.
