Railpool buys workshop company northrail technical service

The Hamburg Paribus Group has sold the workshop company northrail technical service GmbH & Co. KG to the Railpool Group. In the future, the company will offer its workshop services for locomotives and other rail vehicles in Hamburg_billbrook under the name Railpool Lok-Service GmbH & Co. KG.

The current business and the existing contracts will be transferred to the new owners without changes. The workshop will operate under the name Railpool Lok-Service GmbH & Co. KG.

Railpool’s CEO Torsten Lehnert: “The service branch in Hamburg is ideally located for the efficient maintenance of our more than 200 locomotives. For the Railpool Group, the purchase of the workshop is an important strategic investment. We will continue to expand our workshop capacity for the maintenance of electric locomotives in the coming years.”

Even after the change of ownership, northrail GmbH remains a customer of the Hamburg workshop and continues to demand for maintenance services in the regional catchment area.

Hamburg based northrail GmbH (northrail) is a leading German asset-manager and lessor of rail vehicles. It is majority owned by the Paribus-Group and was set-up in 2008, and manages currently over 125 locomotives as well as 93 passenger wagons.
