Rail freight transport comes back to the Leiser Berge region

The freight trains carrying steel pipes to Ernstbrunn, Lower Austria in January, seem to be the impetus for further rail logistics projects in the Leiser Berge region. However, on 26th January, for the first time after almost a decade, several rail wagons were loaded at the warehouse silos in Ernstbrunn and Wetzleinsdorf.

Subsequently, several wagons carrying 523 tonnes of wheat on the regiobahn route, covered the first part of their journey to Italy. Representatives of wagon owners as well as Raiffeisen Ware Austria (RWA) and Deputy Mayor Jutta Mayr personally saw off the grain train at the Wetzleinsdorf warehouse.

The regiobahn, together with its partners Grampetcargo Austria, VTG and Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo, have further projects in the pipeline, to exploit the potential of rail freight transport.
