Rail Cargo Group, the cargo subsidiary of ÖBB, has been operating in the Turkish market for many years. Their own forwarding branch (Rail Cargo Logistics) and several operator connections ensure a powerful networking on the railway with Central and Western Europe.
Now the next strategically important move is made to improve the rail logistics offering. While the current offer comprises three weekly Rail Cargo Operator rotations Sopron – Istanbul Halkali, with end-to-end own traction to the Turkish border, an extended offer is being developed for 2017.
“The new route Poland – Budapest (Terminal BILK) – Istanbul adds another trade to the product portfolio. The RCG-terminal BILK (Budapest) offers many forwarding options within the network, such as to the German Ruhr area and to Romania, to organise supply and distribution,” informs a press release of the Rail Cargo Group.
The cooperation with the Turkish railway TCDD (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları) will be enhanced in the future. RCG and TCDD are actively exchanging their views on potential joint projects to promote rail cargo transport in Turkey and to integrate the country into the international railway network.
